Growth on Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate (SDS) by a Bacterial Consortium Isolated from Volcanic Soil

چکیده
During biodegradation, microorganisms can directly metabolize surfactants for energy and nutrients or co-metabolize them with other compounds. Maximum growth of the bacterial consortium on SDS was seen between 30 35 °C, while optimal pH range 6.5 7.5. As nitrogen source, 2 g/L ammonium sulfate optimum in supporting SDS. The greatest rate recorded at a concentration 1 1.5 (p<0.05). At 2–3, SDS, grew more slowly, 5 g/L, severely inhibited. Almost complete degradations were observed 3, 6 days 0.5, 0.75 respectively higher concentrations showed partial degradation no 2.5 after incubation. In this study, maximum rate, max, Ks, Ki 0.517 h-1 (95% confidence interval C.I. from 0.404 to 0.629), 0.132 (g/L) 0.073 0.191) 0.909 0.544 1.273), respectively. Heavy metals like mercury, copper, chromium stunt if they are present environment. It discovered through research into kinetics that Haldane substrate inhibition may be used model rate. This has right properties bioremediation SDS-polluted environments.

Isolation and Characterization of SDS (Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate) Degrading Organisms from SDS Contaminated Areas
Surfactants are synthetic organic chemicals that are formulated to have cleansing or solubilisation properties with the development of the industrial economy and increase in population density, surfactants have become one of the most widely disseminated xenobiotics to enter the aquatic environment, creating a serious environmental problem. Principal criterion for the ecological behavior of surf...
متن کاملSodium dodecyl sulphate electrophoresis of wheat gliadins.
Polypeptide chain weights of a-, 8and y-gliadin fractions have been estimated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in the presence of mercaptoethanol and sodium dodecyl sulphate. Values lie in the range 32 000 to 44 OOO. When available data on the amino acid analyses were adjusted and compared, significant similarities emerged. It is suggested that these gliadins contain a minimum of 4 cystine...
متن کاملMobility of sodium dodecyl sulphate - protein complexes.
Reduced and unreduced lysozyme aggregates formed by formaldehyde cross-linking comprise a set of model compounds for studying the effects of protein conformation on the electrophoretic mobilities of sodium dodecyl sulphate-protein complexes. The reduced aggregates were indistinguisable from normal proteins, but the unreduced aggregates migrated anomalously fast by about 14%. Contrary to expecta...
متن کاملThe dissociation of glucose oxidase by sodium n-dodecyl sulphate.
1. The enzymic activity of glucose oxidase was determined as a function of pH and sodium n-dodecyl sulphate (SDS) concentration. 2. Glucose oxidase is not deactivated by SDS at pH 6 even after prolonged incubation, but is deactivated at pH 4.3 and 3.65. 3. Sedimentation-rate analysis showed that glucose oxidase dissociates into its two subunits at pH 5 and below, and sedimentation-equilibrium e...
